wrinkled flap skin
Well it happened...
While trying to get the FL-701-R to fit better I wrinkled the bottom side of the top skin. When the top side was clecoed and drilled, the botton side of the top flap skin set up about 1/2 to 3/4 inch. I tried to use the homemade bender brake to get the top skin to fit a little better to the FL-702-R bottom skin. It wasn't working so I decided to use the palm of my hand to push it down slightly. It looked like it was working until I looked at it from the side. To my dismay the bottom side now looked wavey The more I tried to work it out by hand the worse it got. A call to Vans and 38 bucks later I should be back in business.
Lesson learned: NEVER use palm pressure on skin surfaces. I am amazed how little pressure working down the flap skin created this wrinkled situation....
