We are getting ready for our first build and built 2 EAA workbench. As we wanted them to be portable we looked at the retractable casters that were available. We picked up some locally and tried them but it is a pain to walk around all 4 legs to engage and disengage them. Plus to disengage the are so tightly locked we found ourselves bending down to flip the mechanism up.

Looked on the internet and came up with a one step operation which works beautifully.

Did you order some plans or something? Is it magic? Vudu? How does it unlock everything, the video doesn't show.

I have a similar system on my old Craftsman table saw. Pushing down on the pedal raises the table up so the wheels move and caster. Now how they added that to their work table would be interesting to know. It’s a really great idea!

TankerPilot75, Pilot135pd.....

I was lucky to find this video after I had the same problem with the standard retractable casters being hard to operate. His video explains the system and he does a build during the video. No measurements/plans are given but has enough information to adapt it to any size table.

We are very pleased with the system we have. As far as how high it clears the floor when moving table depends on what you want. Our legs are raised 1/2" off the floor. If you need any thing more let me know.

Here is his video.

That's a brilliant idea. So of course now YouTube is showing me tons of those videos and after watching a few this one gives a good suggestion regarding the hinge placement around 3:50 into the video. I didn't watch the entire video because the one you posted is simple to do.

Yeah I watched a lot of them. I liked the one you posted but as you said the one we adopted was simple.

Enjoy that life until you fly again..
