Was hoping to get some feedback on bolt Torques on my wood Culver prop. The confusing thing is that for 1/2" bolts, Culver Props (Valley Engineering) says 25 ft- lbs, but on the website for Performance Propellors, Frank says 35 to 40 ft-lbs.
What would explain the difference? Possibly manufacturing processes?
Thanks out there!

The difference is in the number of laminations. More laminations allow for a higher torque. i.e. Glue is harder than wood. With fewer laminations, higher torque will begin to crush the wood.

Wood prop bolt torques

Good to get some confirmation on this! I know the Performance props have 70 laminations unlike the Culver which I think is 5 or so.
I'll go with the Culver recommendation of 25 ft lbs...
Thanks Doug and Mel !
