I am currently working on the wing root fairings for my RV8 and was wondering what methods have people used to fasten the gap seal material for the aluminum? Is the slip fitting sufficent to keep it in place?

Burke,
If you get a tight fit they should stay put. Some have glued them on. I did not and Have been trouble free for 1300hrs.

Well yeah

Ya know sometimes you just don't think. I have used Pliobond on the interior of my 172 and it never let go...just need a fresh can. Thanks.

pliobond application

Pliobond is a contact cement - how do you apply it to both surfaces of when you have to slip the gap seal onto the fairing strip? Doesn't it stick in place before you get it fully seated?

Just brush Pliobond down into the slot in the rubber and slip the rubber onto the fairing strip while wet.
