I'm New Here
Getting close to starting on my -9 wings and need to know what I need to build for jigs/fixture/stand or whatever etc?

Can someone point me toward some plans that will cover all the bases?

Thanks

It depends on your shop. If you can drill the floor, these are pretty awesome.

If you want or need to stick with wood, there are lots of options. A friend of mine built his from 4"x4". Basically a big frame. The only thing fixed is the vertical joists are glued to the floor.

As far as a stand, the Vans design works fine but there are lots of options there too. I used the Vans plan and it works. Pics in my blog.

I know of one -9A that had its wings built on sawhorses with no ill effects.

When I built mine in my basement, the floor joists above were exposed so I secured the tops to the joists and made some simple "feet" to keep the bottoms from moving.

Also, I did not use 4x4's but rather screwed 2x4's back-to-back to help prevent warping.

There is more detail here.

I found that the pre-punched kits are so well engineered it would be very difficult to rivet a twist into the wing. Still, when it came to match drilling and riveting, I started in the middle of each panel and worked outward.
