I'm just at the point of installing the windshield weldment on my 8A. As with many, its about 3/8" too narrow. Any good ideas on 'stretching' this guy?

I had to "shrink" the windshield weldment on my 7A slider but the principle is the same. Lots of force. Arnold isn't strong enough, even in his prime. I used some chain and a come-along (as we call em here out West) which is a hand racheted winch. Stretch it out with the winch and measure the total deflection obtained, relax the force and measure the results. Probably nothing. Stretch it some more and add more total deflection, relax, and remeasure. Eventually you will get some permanent deflection. If you go slow you won't overshoot. I think I had to shrink mine about 3-4 inches just to get it to come in about 1/4 inch. Scary. That 4130 steel is tough, a comforting thought for a 7A pilot.
