My roll bar seems to be out by about 7/16 of inch. Is this usual? How does one bend it to fit?

Do you mean not wide enough? Mine was like that. I clamped one side, and then pulled the other into shape. Clamped and drilled. Was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be.
 
yeah,, it is not wide enough.

I thought I had seen a thread on this, but I cannot find it anywhere.

To correct the width of my 7's rollbar, I used a series of clamps and so forth, and also gently heated it with a torch in the areas I wanted it to bend. Since I was going to get it stripped and re-powdercoated anyway I didn't care that this scorched the exising powdercoat.

Exactly the reference I was looking for. Spoke with most of the local guys last night, and they're remedies were similar. sit on the floot use your feet and your back... pull.

I try the come-along route.

Don't bother with feet and back.. You'll just pull your back out. :eek:

Use the method I posted to the Rivet Bangers site, and do as I did by pulling and re-measuring a little at a time until you get close to what you want.
