The following appeared in some advertising for a fly in at Easter in Australia

"Building RVs (including the RV12) by Jerry VanGrunsvan from the Vans factory"

I think it should be spelt Jerry VanGrunsven, even so I have not heard Jerry mentioned in connection with Van's Aircraft, maybe he is a relative of Vans.

Could somebody enlighten me.

Demo flight in OSH

Jerry is Van's brother and was a regular at OSH with Van's aircraft as a demo pilot back in the 90's. He flew me on a demo flight in the RV-6 at OSH back in 1995. At the time he was a Northwestern pilot. What he showed me on the demo were 1) What a Cessna 150 looks like going backwards at 150 mph (passed it after takeoff). 2) That the RV did not need rudder when turning. 3) The sliding canopy did not noticeable interfere with the view so I went with it on mine. 4) RV's sure can land short.
