I'm building an RV-9A. I have the standard cross over exhaust system. I cannot figure out from the drawings how to position the exhaust pipe elbow. Should the elbow point in, down or up. It seems out is an obvious no go. I'm thinking it should point in, so that the last portion of the exhaust pipe on one side is close to parallel with the other side exhaust pipe.

Suggestions?

Thanks,
Michael-

Michael-
I tried to do it so that they were roughly parallel coming out the cowl exit and centered between the bottom of the firewall flange and bottom of the cowl exit. FWIW, Larry Vetterman does have a preferred angle for the exhaust relative to the bottom fuselage skin that I also tried to achieve. I can't remember if that was to minimize floor vibration or what. I'll try to remember tonight to look for the notes I took from the phone conversation with him.
