Where on an O-320 engine do I attach the braided ground strap that goes to the firewall?

Look for a hole right behind the base of the dip stick tube. It will take a nut and bolt. Ground fron there to the firewall at a cross brace. Connect the battery ground to the same brass bolt at the firewall. Have it extend into the cabin through the firewall and use the other side to ground all of the things in the panel. That way you have a direct ground to the battery and to the engine and also a good frame ground all in one spot.

sump bolt works too

I used one of the aft sump bolts and it works fine. Had to clean some paint off for good contact. Mine is O-360 but you can do same with O-320.

I don't think I have a good close up picture of the attach point but you can see the ground strap near the alternator cable in the first two photos on page at this link:

I used one of the upper accessory case bolts and zip tied the strap to my oil pressure line. These pictures should give you an idea of my solution.
