[Mark Castle-Smith]

I have an MTV12B/183 Prop, very pleased with it but talking to a friend who has a MTV12B/183 - 59B. My prop is around 4 years old. Does anyone know what the - 59B suffix means?

Is the -59B designation for an updated blade profile?

The -59B indicated the blade design and this is still the current one being used.

-59b blade design

The 183-59b blade design is an improved blade design over the 183-59 blade design.

The 183-59 blades have a RPM restriction for continuous operation between 2050 to 2250 RPM.

The 183-59b blades do NOT have a mid-range RPM restriction.

Some test results from Australia and Canada indicate that the 183-59b blades also provide a modest improvement in performance.
(Of course, the laws of Physics could be different in the USA. )
