I see a lot of folks put a little yellow or orange dot of "stuff" on the bolt and nut. I presume this is to either lock the nut in place or show if the nut has moved since it was torqued.

What do you call that stuff?

Order from Spruce?? or somewhere else?

Thanks,

I figured it was kind of a "Factory" deal where the guy coming on the next shift could tell what had and had not been tightened/torqued.

See it alot on Porsches, everything on the car.

Also called in the field Torque Stripe .

I dont like the term "seal" since it really does not seal anything.

Best,

I've heard pigeon poop.
Also heard nail polish works, but I'm not married so I don't have access to that stuff :D

It's called "Nail Polish". You get it from your wife's shelf in the bathroom. There should be about 30 bottles of the stuff, just sitting there. Find a bottle that looks a little thick. She'll be happy that you made space for more bottles. Generally pink is a poor choice, but bright or dark red will do the job.
