Getting it started. We could all use some motivation and encouraging stories.

Raining here in Dallas all weekend. Yuck.

First Mountain Snow of the Season!

Flew “Mikey” (the RV-6) up and back to Lakeview (OR) to meet up with Marc Cook so we could do a Kitplanes video on “How to Calibrate your G3X AoA system”. Caught this nice picture of Mt. Shasta along the way - first winter snow of the season fell a few days ago, and it was apparent on numerous ranges along the route. Gorgeous barren country between home and there - and even at 11.5K, ADS-B doesn’t track you in the middle of all that nothing…..

3,100 mile East Coast Trip

This took 6 days (not just the weekend). Took a 3,100 mile East Coast trip with my wife and sister to check off a few more landings in the lower 48 states. This got N783V a landing in 41 states so far (7 more to go). The plane now has 475 hours on it and it is doing GREAT! I even got to see 207 kts ground speed at one point!

Here were our stops for either a landing, fuel or overnight stays.
KBAZ New Braunfels TX (Home base)
KMEI Meridian MS
KRYY Atlanta GA
KMYR Myrtle Beach SC
KFFA First Flight Kitty Hawk NC
KSBY Salisbury-Ocean City MD
KGED Delaware Coastal DE
KWWD Cape May NJ
KINT Winston-Salem NC
KTVR Tallulah, LA

Cape May NJ was the biggest surprise! What a GREAT little town! Very quaint and victorian. Oldest resort town in America. Beautiful weather the whole time. If you want a nice quiet place with friendly people, put Cape May on your list.

Kitty Hawk was so cool. But the landing was about a squirrelly as it gets. ASOS report said 7 knots. Once on the ground, it had to be closer to 25 knots, swirling & gusty winds. The tall trees surrounding the runway make it more of a challenge than this South Texas boy is used to. But the 10 handled it just fine.

KTVR in Tallulah LA has a great little WWII museum where we got to see a P-51 and a twin Beach. I'm always surprised as what you can find in little airports across the county.

Replaced bad CHT probe (only 2.4 hrs on it) and continued engine break-in. Now that all sensors are reading correctly and temps are looking good I'll start maneuvering away from the pattern expanding and testing the envelope.

From today's flight.
