With the sky looking like this, it looked like a good day to start Spring waxing!

Av-17 antenna installed by jetstream avionics Friday, in and out of Lodi in 2 hours. And the radio works great with the new antenna

Through my local EAA chapter, I was invited to fly my RV12iS to Boston Logan airport on Thursday to participate in the Massport STEM Expo. I was able to meet lots of high school kids, and some parents and teachers to help inspire an interest in aviation and promote career opportunities in the field. Landed 22L at about 7am and departed 22R after letting some mid-day storms pass. There was one other RV there, a beautifully built RV7.

Not me, but my neighbor and his son flew their award winning RV-7A and RV-10 in a formation photo shoot. Another neighbor, who is a professional cinematographer, photographed them from his Cessna 195. Seeing these airplanes helps keep me motivated as I build my Rocket!

Sunday I took up a future pilot. Her dad is a few hangers down from me and I have know her since she was a young child. She is now taking flight lessons and has 12 hours as a student. She wanted to fly in the 12 since she is taking lessons in a Sling Light sport.

A 56cm road frame fits (barely) in a -7 with the passenger seat removed. I had to remove the seat and rear derailure. I’m going to build a belly mounted cargo pod for the frame in the near future.

Launched into clearing skies this morning out of Cartersville GA to take my son to Sulphur Springs TX. Ugly headwinds along the way - took 4.5 hours (including a fuel stop) to get there. Average groundspeed during the flight was 135 knots. Turned out I had enough fuel to do it non-stop, but sweating fuel is for dummies and wartime.

Landed in Texas, dropped off our son with his Grandparents, loaded back up and rode the nice winds back to Georgia with an average groundspeed of 180 knots for a 3 hour trip. Much better!
