I am looking for an altimeter for my RV8A. It will be IFR, and although I will be using the gauge as a backup for my EFIS, it needs to be very accurate.

The altimeter that Vans sells is a Falcon. I would not use that. Does anyone have any suggestions about an altimeter that is reliabe and still reasonably priced???

As an aside, I would be interested in the comments of those of you who are using EFIS, either GRT Horizon or Dynon.....as to the accuracy of the altitude indication.

Thanks

I had my Dynon D10 IFR checked a few months ago. It checked out great to 20k feet. I believe the spec is +/- 20 feet. I also have a Falcon alltimeter from Van's. It also checked out fine. One thing to watch out for is you may be charged for each altimeter that is IFR checked by the avionics tech, eventhough it doesn't take much more time.
