I am resurrecting a derelict RV-6 with no logs.

Early build, battery inside. Battery box seems to take a battery almost 7 inches tall, and 5 inches wide. The box cover is held down with hinges. There are plastic rub strips that seem designed to capture the battery once the cover is on.

Any idea what battery was common back then? Or what battery it might be?

Concord RG-25XC is most likely the battery that was used back then.

IF the builder knew and installed battery cables that would reach both terminals, a much cheaper AGM-1234T battery could be used.

I originally used RG-25XC battery but have also used the AGM-1234T at least three times over the past 27-years. It is what is in the airplane right now.
