I'm New Here
Looking for a set of fuel tanks for an RV8A. Bought a somewhat built kit and the assembly of the fuel tanks was poorly done, so we need to replace them.

Thank you all for the good information. Don't really care if the tanks are assembled or unassembled, more than happy to build them ourselves, just trying to not pay full price for new ones.

We have a pair from the tail dragger version available. They were installed, painted, and flew about 270 hours before the airplane was damaged. Our EAA Chapter repurposed most of the useable parts but a few parts remain tucked up and away in our hangar.

Are they just leaking or is it physical build issues? Leaks are relatively simple to fix and reseal the entire tank from the inside if you have the time. You just need to buy the tank sealant and vans repair blanks. Or make your own blanks to be even more cost effective.

Thank you for your response. Do you have pictures of the tanks inside and out?

Thank you for your response. I don't believe they leak, it is mostly the build quality. When you look inside, most of the rivets on the ribs have been overdriven and a lot of them have been flat out smeared, then they went ahead and covered them with sealant. Our concern is that it will take more expense in time and parts to fix than to just get other tanks.
