Looking for recommendations for prebuy in the Portland OR area. I contacted Gary Brown but he is no longer performing prebuys. Looking at a RV9
Thanks in advance

Not Portland, but not too far away is James Young in Chehalis, WA. He is an A&P and CFI. He did the prebuy on my RV-4 and gave me transition training in his RV-6. I was very happy with both the prebuy and training and it couldn't have been more convenient.

You will see his website is seaplane centric, but on this page it does mention training in his RV-6 --- https://www.seaplanescenics.com/flight-training --- The website doesn't mention prebuys, but it's something he offers.

Good luck with your purchase!

I took a look at his RV-6 Checklist on his website. Under “Aircraft V-Speeds” he lists Vno as 180 KTS, and Vne at 220 KTS.

Van’s lists Vno as 156.4 KIAS (180 MPH IAS), and Vne as 182.4 KTAS (210 MPH TAS).

Yikes!

As we all know the V speeds are to be respected, and are not just a suggestion. Our overpowered -6 is actually a little work. I have to start pulling the power back a few minutes before starting our descent.
