I recently purchased a RV8 (only wish I'd built it) about 3 weeks ago. I flew it from Carefree, Az to near Seattle. Now I'm back in Az. without the plane but in reading more about the VM 1000, it is supposed to give the outside air temp., OAT. I don't recall ever see that on the screen. Can someone tell me how that is accessed.

Do you know for sure you have an OAT probe on the plane?

Perhaps someone on VAF will have the installation manual. It might tell more about setting up functions.

I recently purchased a RV8......

When I installed the VM 1000, the OAT function was an optional feature. I suggest you verify the original builder actually added the OAT function to the VM 1000 in your recently purchased -8.

The outside air gauge is a separate gauge from the main panel w/ sensors mounted on the carb for carb air temp and in the outside airflow for outside air...... Dave
