My buddy has a Virb 360 camera ordered, and we are wondering what people are using to mount it externally, if anything.

I have this:

(a slightly earlier version, but essentially identical), and the Virb apparently comes with a baseplate mount that will fit it (same GoPro style tabs on the bottom). But I don't know (yet) how secure that is.

Anyone have any experience here? TIA!

I think my question is being misunderstood here.

I *have* a "mount" that will attach a camera to the wing, the NFlight ball and socket mount that I use with my GoPro. For that, I use the GoPro waterproof housing on the GoPro itself, and attach the camera/housing to the mount, no problemo.

What am asking about is not the *mount*, I guess, but the camera/cradle thing for the Virb 360:

I want to know if it's secure enough for use out in the open, on the wing, attached to this mount:

(i.e., instead of that plastic full-body housing, just the sole plate that the Virb 360 uses).

I don't want the camera departing from the cradle during flight.
