I'm thinking seriously about painting the my RV white myself and putting a graphic on it. Here's a vinyl graphic design that Scott Binder came up with for me. I LIKE IT!

You'll like it!

And, hey, if you don't like it, you can change it! I did it with my 9A and am very happy. I even put small graphics on the end of the steps to match the wheel pants. I did vinyl on the wingtips, which is kinda difficult but doable. Also vinyl on all the rudder. Very versatile stuff. I bought the computerized cutter and have done a couple of planes.

As an aircraft painter I have to vote thumbs down on vinyl. My kids need shoes. Help a brotha out. :D

I kinda like it. "Tower, RV niner niner triple niner is nine miles out for landing runway niner." It sounds very aviation.

I had a customer who wanted his N-number to be N99. It was already taken so he chose N199. He just liked to say niner-niner.

Use vinyl graphic asa paint mask

I bought vinyl graphics that I used as paint masks. They worked great with no bleed under (perfect, crisp lines).

Philip... are they a different stick-um (technical term...:)...) than the standard trim vinyl?

Do you need heat to remove the masks after painting? ... or is it a low tack?

Different vinyl but all vinyl shops carry it.

They are different stick-um. They are also cheaper as they can be any color they have laying around. They do not require heat or anything to remove. Just get a corner started and they peel right up.

Remember to ask for the correct side of the graphic as you may need the negitive of the graphic depending on which color you are painting first (do not ask me how I know this).

On my tail I painted everything white first. I did not want to have the white cover the blue due to getting a different shade of white by having a dark color underneath. I then put down the vinyl graphic for the white sun and painted in the gold. I then covered the gold with a vinyl mask and painted everything blue. I pulled up the vinyl masks and had perfect edges and everything is paint so sould last longer.
