F1 Rocket

I?m in the process of updating the avionics in my Rocket. I?d like to add a forward and rearward looking camera that will display via the Garmin 3GX system. Does anyone know of a video feed switch that can be used to switch between cameras?

What kind of video? If it's plain old composite (coax with a single pin in the middle, that looks like old stereo audio connectors), then almost any coax switch will work. Even the old A/B switches that came with the original video games will work, if you use RCA>F adapters.

The input to the G3X is just composite. Search amazon for "composite video switch", tons of options.

Cameras

What cameras do you plan to use? I messed with this idea using a GoPro but I'd like to get a legit bullet camera installed.

I?ll be watching this thread as I, too, would be interested in a real bullet camera attached to a central digital recorder. Even though the GoPro and Garmin cameras have become smaller in the last 5 years, it seems to me that a camera only solution at the mounting point would be easier to incorporate into a permanent mounting.

video switch

This might work for you for the video switching: https://catalog.pac-audio.com/catalog/video-integration/vs41

You could either use a two way switch (ON-ON) for two inputs or even a three way switch (ON-ON-ON) for three video inputs. Just wire it up so the triggers go to ground and then that's the video you pass on to the G3X. An NKK M2024SS1W01 is a nice, small, 3-way switch that would work for that. Maybe, a forward, side, and rear view. An NKK M2022SS1W01 would work for the 2-way switch.

I hope this helps.
