I am putting my engine back together for the RV8. Since I will not be using any vacuum accessories, I want to leave the entire vacuum gear assembly out of the accessory case.

I asked Lyc tech assistance about this, and they had no data to say yes or no, even though it is an experimental engine.

I have also asked Superior, who made this engine, and have yet to hear back from them.

Does anyone have any experience or knowledge on whether or not it is ok to not re-install the vacuum gear assembly on the IO-360?

I would recommend you leave it in in case you decide to add a vacuum pump alternator down the road.

I have an IO 360 that I chose to have the vacuum pump gear installed and I have a neighbor who has the same engine with it removed. Both engines assembled by Aero Sport 8 and 9 years ago. I wanted the option to install a vacuum pump alternator.
