I will be starting an RV-7 project in the next few weeks and wondered how other builders in North Carolina had handled the required use tax. The rate is 3% up to $1,500 maximum per aircraft. As I expect this project and the various purchases for it to stretch over several years, do you wait until the aicraft is complete to file the for NC-555 and then pay the tax? Or do you pay on parts purchases as you go until you reach the $1,500 maximum?
