I'm trying to source a dual female USB panel mount that has a decent looking bezel on it. So far, I have only found one from OCP (http://www.ocp.com/server/snapin_usb.html) but they only sell to dealers.

This is not for power, but rather to extend the Dynon Skyview USB ports.

Does anyone know of any good alternatives?

USB Mount

Because of the limited use that the USB plugs will get I made a plate and attached it under the panel, "pointing" down. It is recessed so that I do not hit my knees on it, but accessible from the seat when updates are required. On the RV8 I absolutely hate to use up available panel space.

Try these links.

I put a dual USB in an RV-3 I owned. The amperage was enough to charge both an iPad and iPhone. Worked great! Some USB's don't have enough amperage to keep up. And the guys at Up North Aviation cut (with CNC) a plate for mounting.

In the photos section of http://rv3forsale.com you can see the USB installed.

Hope this helps.

+1 for commitlift.comm This guy wrote a paper on USB charging and seems to know the important details for smart charging of apple devices. Definitely worth investigating and learning about USB ports for charging stuff.

Guardian Avionics is about to finish an interesting product. It has two USB ports, each capable of iPad charging. It tests cabin for CO gasses and also talks to iPads on bluetooth. Nav data, and engine data is communicated.
The new storage feature of flight and engine parameters that store in the cloud automatically are interesting. Not for certified planes, according to the developer who showed it to me.
