Yesterday I went up to British Columbia (I live near Seattle) to purchase a RV-9 Empennage kit. Was expecting a hassle from customs at the border.

Pulled up to the booth...

"How long were you in Canada?"

"Two hours"

"Did you buy anything while in Canada?"

<Usual mumbling about being a kit to build a plane...>

"You WHAT???", followed a minute later by "I wouldn't touch one of those things", followed a second later by "Gonna use a 3x or a 4x?"

"WHAT???? You mean rivet gun?"

Boiled down to he used to live in Wichita, used to work as an aircraft mechanic, told me to buy my tools at The Yard in Wichita.

What are the odds of something like that happening at the border, anyways? :)
