For 2 years I had erratic oil temperature readings with wild swings form 140 to 225 then shut down of gauge reading. The temperature of the sender was checked in water bath on 2 occasions and read correctly on G3X compared to mercury scientific thermometer. In the air the reading was erratic but sometimes reliable. After 170 hours and discussions with Aero Sport Power, Garmin, UMA and Aerotronics, with the reading becoming more erratic, I ordered a new temp sender 1B3-2.5R and it reads well and is finally reliable. I hope the UMA corporation can disable the sender and determine why this problem only occurred with the engine running and at a variable interval. The problem was present from time of installation.
