The modern ?connected cockpit? gives us capabilities that we didn?t even dream about 10 years ago?. But they can also be a big distraction at the most inopportune time! I had forgotten about this incident that occurred at a practice with the Rocky Mountain Renegades until looking at some old video. This adds a new dimension to butt dialing!!!!

Circa 2016 there was an Android release that made Butt dialing 911 far too simple.

Managed to do so preflighting for a breakfast flight with my wife.

Noticed a deputy in an odd place on the airport on departure roll, did not give it a second thought.

Three hours later, after back in the hangar, I checked voicemail and call log - they left a message. Luckily, it was common by then.

No recording of the call was offered when I stopped by to apologize and say thanks for not deploying stop sticks. ;)
