Wow, what a steep learning curve, but not too bad an experience.
Background: NO experience with anything close to this.
I am using a water-reduceable epoxy primer.
Citation HVLP system without the mask (got it that way on ebay for CHEAP).
No idea what needle size.
I just started from where the manual said, set everything to neutral. Gun worked fin. I am sure there is a much better way with the PERFECT needle and settings, but it atomized fine, looked crappy, but dried fairly well.
I thought I could use my mask (organic filters) and chem goggles...sure it worked, but I am placing an order for an air supplied mask ASAP! The goggles fogged, I couldnt see, etc.
