Just a random question from the peanut gallery.... Has anyone out there (who has a TT Gemini PFD) gotten a full IFR pitot / static check done? Well, according to the specs / regs in regards to experimentals. My question is did the Gemini honestly pass the altimeter check at +/- 75 feet? I know a lot of "non-TSO'd" altemeters out there will not give you proper altitude resolution for IFR flight, hence not being visable during IFR ops /and or placarded as such. I emailed TT a while and didn't hear back. They must be be busy cranking out that PFD/AP :D I know, I know I'm a long ways away, but just being and staying up to date with whats out there and on the horizon. I want to budget in TSO'd back ups if necessary to suite my own tastes.

As always, Thanks for the info.

My last IFR static/altimeter/xponder check my Dynon was dead on with minimal instrument error on the altimeter.

I did not have the Gemini PFD installed at that time but I can tell you that I have sucked a vacuum on my static system and compared the Gemini with the Dynon and they are pretty close to each other up as far as I felt like sucking on the tube.

I doubt you will find a modern experimental EFIS or EFIS type unit that in good working order won't pass the test.

Typically the units you are referring to are non-precision single pointer mechanical units. Many install these as steam backups and use the non-precision ones because the 2.25" precision ones are very expensive.

Actually here are the tolerances (hard to post colums, the second number is the tolerance):

Altitude (feet) Altitude Tolerance +/- ft.

500 20
1000* 20
1500 25
2000* 30

12000 90

Brantel-
You are spot on "back ups" :D... In my mind, its a mini 2.25" precision alt (TSO'd) steam gauge at $1200.00 or an alternate gemini type device (non-TSO'd) sensitive altimeter. I've read several threads about MGL etc, etc. Not even coming close to tolerances. Just trying to budget for safety first (my butt).

Walt-
Thank you so much for the specs / tolerances. Not to be a pain but would you happen to have the reference material for the tolerences? I'd like to keep those as part of my personal reference Library.

Thanks again
