Anyone using the TruTrack yaw damper? I've heard people have actually seen some benefit from using a yaw damper on the -10. What about using it in place of rudder trim? I'm fine with keeping rudder pressure in while hand flying, but would like to fly "hands and feet off" with the a/p engaged at any speed/power setting. Can it be used for that purpose? Thanks...

Rob, with just about 500 hours in the 10 now, we haven't seen a need for the yaw damper. And that's a lot of trips in all kinds of bumps. We used to own a V-tail Bonanza, and my wife wouldn't fly in it until we put the yaw damper in it, so she is quite critical with regards to yawing motion. She rides in the backseat of the 10 without any commplaints, and has stated how solid it feels. But, I do understand the want to fly hands off. That's why I put the electric rudder trim on the tail, too. It now trims hands off in any flight mode in all 3 axis. And a WHOLE lot cheaper than the yaw damper.
Take care.
