I am setting up my TruTrak autopilot and I have input from Garmin 396 and Blue Mountain Sport. The TruTrak requires a Baud rate from the GPS. Does anyone know the Baud Rate for a Garmin 396 and Blue Mountain Sport? I have a switch that allows me to use one or the other.

THANKS.

I set mine up with a Garmin 296 and the Baud rate was 4800. Would think the 396 would be the same but not sure. Don't know about the Blue Mountain Sport.

Give TruTrak tech support a call in the am. I'm sure they will have answers to all your questions. That's where I got the Baud rate for the 296.

Steve,

Both the 396 and 496 are capable of outputting NMEA data at 9600 baud, which is what most EFIS systems run at. I'm not familiar with the BMA system, so I can't comment on its capabilities.

If you choose NMEA IN/NMEA OUT on the 396, it is 4800. If you choose Aviation IN/NMEA & VHF OUT, it is 9600. If you choose TIS IN/NMEA & VHF OUT, it is also 9600. Be sure you have the latest firmware upgrade in the 396. Thanks!
