I know this is a question for my insurance company, but wanted to float it here first: What do the insurance companies consider transition training? I got mine from one of the 5 guys on the Vans list of transition instructors. Since then my CFI has accumulated a fair amount of time in my RV. Can he now provide transition training for my son by following the Vans Syllabus?

Yep, you answers your question right off the bat. Your insurance company will want to know how many hours your CFI has in RV's so in a nutshell, hard to say.

My insurance company required the CFI to have two hours in the RV-10 and then only required him to sign me off. There was no minimum hour requirement (although we had 4 hours before he would sign me off).

No transition with instructor required fore my son.

My insurance company only required my son to have 200 hrs total time since he already had a tail wheel endorsement and logged a considerable amount of time in our RV6 as PIC with me aboard.
