Hello,

I'm installing the aileron controll tubes in the wings, where I'm unsure about the torque value applyed to the jam nuts of the rod end bearing.

The jam nut is a AN316 with a 3/8-24 thread.

My Standart Aircraft Handbook tells me to use 95-110 inch/pounds.

The rod end bearing is a bit more than 3/8 in the conical al-tube end screwed in.

If i apply the torque to the nut, the aluminum gets treated quite hard, I have the feeling.

Standard engineering roule is 1x thread diameter engagement in steel, 2x thread diameter engagement in aluminum, then the screw is weaker or the same as the thread in a bore.

The aileron controll tube could be easily 1/4-3/8" longer, then I would have a deeper engagement, but I build them to the plan, so the engagement is a bit more than 3/8".

Is 95-110 inch/pounds correct her to tighten the jam nut?

Thanks Dominik
