This last weekend we completed our first annual condition inspection and while taking a rest, I painted the tie down eyes to match the plane then spied some UMHW tape laying on the bench and I decided to use some of this to save some paint wear on the plane.
First, cut a small square, outline the 3/8" eye bolt on the paper side of the UMHW tape, fold in half and cut the hole out like we learned in elementary school.
[/IMG]
Remove tape and slide sticky side down so it adhears to the shoulder of the eye bolt.
[/IMG]
Then carefully use a razor blade and trim next to the shoulder.

Now you have an eyebolt that will be more user friendly to your plane.
