The friction wheel on my throttle cable is seizing up and it is hard to turn. Standard Van's black knob throttle cable that came with my firewall forward parts in 2003. The throttle cable works fine otherwise, with smooth push and pull. The friction on the cable works well also, it's just the friction wheel that is hard to turn. Can I unscrew it or disassemble it to clean and lube, without all kinds of parts falling out? Thanks for the input.

The Fix

For a seized throttle cable friction wheel, I sprayed a very small amount of LPS1 onto the friction wheel threads and it loosened up no problem. Unscrewed it all the way out and moved the teflon split collar out to clean threads. Works fine. Just thought I would follow up.

Bob, glad you fixed it. Some have had permanent heat damage on their cables (if they are the green coated one from Van's).
