Hi all,

I have a lycoming IO360M1B engine. On the bottom of the cold air sump, on the left is a metal tang with two 3/16 holes through it. I am using this to mount a bracket for my throttle cable. The question is how to bolt this in.

Do I use two 3/16 bolts with high temp (all metal) lock nuts or should I use drilled bolts and castellated nuts? My main concern is with vibration from the engine. Having the throttle bracket fall off in flight would be very inconvenient. What's the right answer here?

Mike,

As this bracket will most likely go on once and need not be routinely removed for maintenance, and as you said "Having the throttle bracket fall off in flight would be very inconvenient", the logical answer would be the security of a castle nut and cotter pin.
