another cool plane

Tom Martin ( Rocket from Canada) is trying to convince the designer/builder of the Nexus Mustang to bring one down and race. My fingers are crossed for that to happen!

I wasn't going to run the XC race but now I see RV-4 number 41 is coming out so I better get RV-4 number 34 ready to rock.

I think the TV Air race and speed dash are going to be one race not to miss!
Where is that super hot RV-3 I am always reading about.... lets run'em!

Make that 4 Rockets!

I deleted some redundant lists when I added the latest one and that broke the chain that showed the increase to 4 rockets. Sorry about that.

I count 17 Harmon, F1 or EVO rockets in the Sport Air Racing League member list (www.sportairrace.org) that could show up and I'm sure there are more out there - you don't have to be a league member to fly in the league sanctioned races.

So far there are only two RV Blues (360) and 2 RV Reds (320) entered but the overall list is growing. I believe the desire to fly a two way pass down the runway with no limits (FAA waiver has been obtained) has a general appeal. There will be a professional announcer and several thousand spectators are expected. This event is in addition to the 100+ mile cross country air race.

If you have a smaller engine than 320 cu. in. you can check the other classes under the MISSION link at www.sportairrace.org and find another class like Sprint or Sportsman that you could compete in. All classes are allowed in every race.

Bob,

Thanks for posting that. Bummer but my O-290 puts me in with the -320's (RV Red) and I can't run with them.

The next lower class is for the O-240's.

Maybe I'll just have to change my engine. An O-235 would be good. Let's see; high compression pistons, duel electronic ignition, and fuel injection, cylinder porting, and then some aero cleanup and I might just have the wining RV in the Sprint Class. ;)

come out anyway

come and participate anyway. Its not about winning its about having fun and doing your best. If you play the winds right and someone else gets lost you might win if not, so what, its alot of fun and the rest of the show is going to be fun too.

If I were not racing I would go to just watch.

Ummm... After spending 10 years road racing, I would say it is ALL about winning! Besides, with the climb prop Catto made for me by mistake I'm slow, very slow. Like 165 MPH TAS on my redline at 64% power. Maybe if I upgrade the prop I'll join in.

Yes, I know I can spin up that old lycoming more but since O-290-D2 parts are difficult to come by, I elect to baby this engine.

What would be interesting is if I had a 160 HP O-320 how it would compare to RV-6's with the same engine.

Were are down to the last few decision days

I hope some of you folks from Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, Tennessee, Florida and Louisiana at least, decide to come out and see how fast your plane will fly in a cross country air race in direct competition with like airplanes and/or the speed dash (timed two-way low altitude pass down runways 13 and 31). see www.sportairrace.org, calendar of events, Tennessee Valley Air Race information link for details.

I'll be there and I hope to see you as well. You do not have to be a member of the Sport Air Racing League to participate.
