Spotlight ON …the VAF Job Board
….dr
The subforum description: “For RVators looking for a job and for RVators looking to hire other RVators. Let’s help each other out if we can.”
Are you looking to hire an RV builder/owner for your company (because you’ll already have sort of an idea of their ability to focus on long term projects)? Consider posting that job opening in the VAF Job Board subforum. Currently unemployed (but have an RV project in the garage)? Post you’re looking for work here. It’s the one area where, by design, I give some leeway in regards to the ‘RV only’ rule.
Some examples of perfectly appropriate subject lines:
RV-8 Builder (wings) CPA in TX looking for work.
RV-7 Owner looking to hire IT specialist
Unemployed RV-6 Owner looking for part time retirement work.
RV-10 Builder looking to hire engineer (preferably RV builder/owner)
RVators helping RVators stay employed is what I’m going for.
Thanks if you can help a fellow RVator out.
v/r,dr
PS: A huge shout out to you folks and businesses who financially help to keep this pirate ship going - I continue to hope the RV world benefits from it.

Tire Valve Mod
…HFS
I made a 6" (arbitrary length) extension with a straight coupling on one end, and 1/8 - 27 NPT threads on the other. The straight coupling lets you get into access holes that are 3/4" or less.
Pics below - I still have 3 left for sale - extension only for $10.00 (my cost) + shipping. All different options for attachment - the most useful (the one I use), couples EZ-FLATE directly to a pistol grip type inflator with a hose "whip". Like one stop shopping - just plug it in and go ...
HFS
FWIW - The use of a laser to "mark" the wheel pant access hole works, as long as the axis of the laser matches the axis of the stem. If they don't, then all you are marking on the WP with the laser is that "point" in space where the center of the valve stem face is - that is in the X,Y & Z directions. As you bring that point forward (Z- axis) until it's on the outer face of the WP, without accounting for the lateral movement in the X-axis, the access hole & stem face will not be in alignment. Larry's way works ... Just sayin'

Scott Hersha
Bent Stick Mod PIREP
I did the cut and weld offset on both of my RV8’s, and it worked well (see first pic). The offset was 2” aft from centerline of the upper grip area to centerline of the lower part.
I did a slightly more elegant mod to my RV4 front stick. The RV4 stick and the RV8 stick are the same. I cut the stick where I wanted it and inserted the RV14 stick inside (it’s smaller diameter). It didn’t fit tightly, so I machined down a piece of 4130 tube to use as a shim to make it fit tight. Drilled for two bolts through the assembly (Second two pics). I had moved my front seat aft almost three inches for comfort, and it all turned out great.

Help with Odd Vibration Needed
…BillL reply
Mark, I read through your OP and all the comments. I am not a vibrations expert, but 2300 rpm test is 115 hz firing frequency. It is splitting the 100-125 box of the report, peaking at 100hz. Adding in the hints of your GAMI test and trim of the injectors and the dropping of the EGT on landing all seems to point to a mixture issue. IMO the GAMI spread of .3 GPM seems high, my stock IO360 M1B is .1 and a friends IO540 tested as .1 also. This is not a smoking gun, but might want to understand this in more detail. You did not say this was from day 1 but sometimes we take time to refine our senses to the airplane. You might want to inspect the injectors for spray plume and delivery at a standard pulse width. Installed debris from various sources is a fundamental cause of production issues in fuel system.
Fuel is just one item on the list of variables that can cause a combustion "intensity" variance. Valve events can do that too - i.e. pushrod length. Ignition could do that if the system could allow it to occur only on some cylinders - like triggers etc.
Just some thoughts, Bill

I found the KAI for the ULS landing gear. The fitting is different, but in close proximity to the iS.

Bypass Oil Filtration - Any Hard Data Available?
…Toolbuilder PIREP
Finally hit my 50 hour oil change interval on the return from Sedona today so in conjunction with the oil change I’ve installed the bypass filter. Took a sample of the old oil and will have it burned. at next oil change will have the “bypass treated“ oil burned to compare.
