Spent the weekend working side jobs, so no RV. Looking forward to reading this weekend’s WDYDWYRTW thread, though. Gonna motivate me to find time in the calendar this week to go take the RV for a spin.
Very nice edition today IMHO with a good mix of building posts and motivation. Hope you enjoy it and thanks again to those who help me keep this small business afloat.
Hope you had a great weekend!

The 50,000 hour RV
Yesterday my RV-7 project received a thorough going-over from Paul Dye, an aviator who I've been proud to call my friend and mentor. Having found no issues with parts or paperwork, he used his newly-granted powers as a DAR to issue my airworthiness certificate, transforming my long-running...

Donah Bohannon Thanks Everyone for the Kind Words Regarding the Passing of Bruce
RIP Bruce Bohannon, 06/21/1958 - 07/24/2024
Dear RV Family, I waited until today to read these posts about Bruce because I knew it would be hard, and it was. But, on behalf of the family, I want to express our deep appreciation for all of the kind words and great stories that are shared here. Bruce was so impressed by Van’s aircraft...

Removing "dents" from curved rivet lines in upper aft fuselage
Yesterday fellow forum member and EAA Technical Counselor Scott McDaniels flew to my house to check the progress of my build to date. As many of you know from his helpful posts here, Scott is extremely knowledgable about all things related to building Vans airplanes. Scott was very helpful and...

IO-360 M1B Intake Tube Seals - Backfiring
Two things. First question. Does anyone have advice or a written procedure for replacing the intake tube seals on the sump end of the tube? Photos below. I have gotten some great advice from a respected member of VAF about trouble shooting my problem but just casting a wider net. Second...

Pushrods F-439/440 Basic Question
My project was partially built when acquired. Previous builder was very precise and fabricated all of the control column components except F-439 & F-440 pushrods. Builder manual is a bit sparse on detail, but it appears that the 6061 T6 3/4” x .058 aluminum tubing gets attached to steel...

firewall lower edge/exit bump installed
This was discussed to death a couple of years ago and the consensus was that smoothing the turbulence and separation as exit air churns past the sharp lower firewall edge on the side by side RV's netted lower CHT's and maybe you might even pick up a knot or two. In my recent thread on...

Manifold pressure line
I've been using a copper tube running between #2 cylinder and the firewall mounted G3X transducer on my 9A. Is there an alternative to the copper tube? My tube broke at the compression fitting just aft of the cylinder twice over the last 16 years. Steve
