I have acquired a used Garmin 696.
But I have a newer 2011 Van's Standard Avionics Package with Garmin 495 GPS.

Should I take out the Garmin 495 and put in the Garmin 696?
NOW: 12 fuses on far left then Dyson then middle Garmin 495 top, radio bottom,
then on far right, another dyson.

I also have the AOPA naviation on a mini pad. How can I most efficiently set this up without it looking like the Ginza at Midnight.

Might depend on your eyesight. I bought my 9 with a smaller Garmin. Sold it here on Van's and bought a used 696. The difference is huge... pardon the expression. 696 size is great and bright screen. Some of the older small units were not as bright. It is now displaying ADS-B traffic and WX also. Had to do a firmware update. I like buttons and knobs, don't like fingerprints on touch screens. Just me.
