I'm at the point where I have re-installed the tail feathers for the fitting of the fiberglass tailcone fairing. Everything going fine until horiz stab got mounted (of course that was the usual struggle) but then found that the two surfaces rub at the very aft end. Looks like I either have to cut the skins back, or move the fairing forward by trimming the forward end.

Anybody else seen this, and how did you make it work?
 
In my opinion...

...I would not trim the front of the tailcone fairing. That would change how it fits and also there is a hole at the bottom of the fairing that the trim mechanism descends into and that would move too.

I had the same issue with the stab skins rubbing so I trimmed about 1/8" off the skins.

Thanks Tony. I didn't want to start trimming metal without some confirmation that that is the best way to go.
 
I marked with tape, cut close to the line with Dremel cutoff disc, and filed/sanded to a smooth line. Then discovered the lower skin has ro be trimmed as well!
