I've got a tach that is consistantly reading 300rpm higher than what the engine is actually doing. I've got the vans aircraft electronic tach gauge and tach generator on a o-360. My question is I guess do you think it is more than likely the gauge? I have taken the tach generator apart and everything looks fine and with a drill I can spin the tach up just fine. However with the engine off and master on the tach reads 300rpm so my guess is the gauge but just want someone else's opinion before I get a new one!

Yep it's the gauge. Mine just did the same thing after 650hrs. Replaced it last week and all is good.:)
