My RV-4 has a complete set of Van's gages, less manifold pressure. My tach stopped working today. It appears the transducer is the culprit. Before ordering up another transducer, I'm tinkering with the idea of replacing all the gages with the EIS-4000 from GRT or Dynon EMS-D10 or some other similar EMS. Another possibility might be another stand alone tach from EI with the LEDs around the outside and a digital readout in the center. The problem I see with this is the cost of a single gage versus a complete EIS/EMS from Dynon or GRT.

The other goal is to recover some panel space for future expansion (autopilot, 2nd Nav/Com, AM/FM/CD/DVD/XM/live television... well, you get the picture.

Anyone have any input on making the change... or not?

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you need to replace the bad component and go fly until you know what you want to do.
