I send this along as an FYI to my fellow Van'ites should you encounter the same issue. The email below is a copy I sent to the Foreflight/Stratus folks a few minutes ago. BTW that system really works well.
Hi Folks, (the Foreflight Stratus folks)
I have the following configuration in my Vans RV 8: Garmin 486, Grand Rapids internal GPS, Stratus Ant for iPad (see attached photo). All antennas are placed on the glare shield.
I have discovered an anomaly which I don?t think is much of an issue but I thought I?d make you aware of it. If I activate the Stratus ant and place it on the glare shield then start power up the Garmin and GRT GPS?s it takes nearly 15 min for the Garmin and GRT to get started. I don?t k now what the interference is but it is real. It is easy to avoid in that I keep the Stratus Ant off until the Garmin and GRT GPS?s have booted up and located themselves then turn on the Stratus. That seems to work just fine.
I thought you?d like to know as there will no doubt be others who encounter this phenomenon.
