I bought a RV-9A with a working GX60. I have read the User's Guide but only became more confused (I have previously had Garmin 430/530's in my planes). Has anyone put together a simple checklist on the steps required to go from "Direct To" through an approach and missed approach?

Your help is appreciated.

A PDF of the GX60 Quick Reference guide is here: http://www.kywgcap.org/Portals/28/manuals/gx6065ref.pdf

The "Approach Setup Summary" and "Approach Checklist" sections might be something like what you are looking for.

There is also a GX60 simulator you can download and run on a Windows computer... it can help to practice the buttonology.

If you aren't doing a hold or course reversal on the approach or missed approach, the GX60 and other TSO 129c IFR GPS's aren't any harder to deal with than the 430, in my opinion...
