Stock Oil Door Hinge Installation

For those of you that have a stock oil door. How did you get the hinge pin in? How did you secure it? How did you paint the hinge/door afterwards?

I'm still on the fence regarding the concealed hinge. From what I can see on the drawings, it looks like the door will not be removable if I build to plans.

On the 7A that I built, I used the stock hinge and pin. The hinge is in a slight recess so the pin can not slide out. I left the door off the cowl during painting. I placed protective tape on the edge of the cowl as I sprung the pin up and slid it into place after painting was completed. Hasn't tried to back out in 4 years. You can use the same method and remove the pin if desired.
