Has anyone out there installed one of Van's steps on a RV8 taildragger? I am concerned about ground clearance issues. I am currantly flying an RV6 and my age is starting to show as getting up on the wing is now doable but I can see that its going to be a future problem. With the 6 it is almost impossible if the slider canopy is latched & locked. The RV8, I would think, would not be any easier and I will be ordering the fuselage kit soon. I would be interested in comments from RV8 builders who are now flying with the step if there are any.

Hi Dick,
Several of my buddies have -8's and -8A's. The A's have steps and more than likely, all you'll need from Van is a step kit. Give 'em a call to verify that it'll simply add on.

Whether you decide to build an -8 or an -8A, the F-842-1 bottom skin will likely be shipped with a cutout for a footstep. The link provides further details.
