Yesterday, I landed at Stearman Field Airport (1K1) near Wichita. Evidently within the 2 hours after take off from Y14 in South Dakota, my front tire on my RV6A developed a hole in the tube. Flat tire on the front tire on roll out. Not good.
A young man appeared rather quickly to help me pull the plane off the runway.
Then, the incredible, generous Stearman Airport resident DWayne Clemens helped me for over 2 hours, rifling thru 4 different hangars to find a new tube (we eventually patched the original tube), and reinstall the tire. I then had a great meal at the Stearman Field Bar and Grill restaurant. What could have been a bad experience turned out to be an opportunity to meet another cool person in the aviation world.

Stearman Field Airport is my stop for the Wichita area. Good Stuff!

But Craig, if you had a tailwheel like a proper RV should, a flat nose tire wouldn't have happened... right?
