trying to do my 1st flight today and now the starter isn't working correctly. RV7 IO360M1A solenoid on fire wall skytec starter.
it cranks 30% of the time and clicks the rest. I removed the jumper wire as part of the build process. did I goof?

Doesn't that jumper change it from a 12V to 24V setup? If so, removing the jumper would be using 12V on a 24V starter. I'm just doing this from something I think I remember reading. That sounds like a dead battery scenario, so using 12 to crank 24 would act the same way. Hook the jumper back up & try it.

If it's an LS starter, which it probably is you need the jumper installed using an external start solenoid. See this page for info on wiring:
